But the version of Bella in New Moon actually made me dislike her intensely, which is bad news for the filmmakers (led by new and better director Chris Weisz). I didn't loathe Bella because she's a self-absorbed drama queen, mourning the loss of her runaway Edward ,who leaves her early in the film after he accidentally injures her while trying to protect her. No, I found her unappealing because she's terrible to those she cares about outside of Edward.
